Beverley Nielsen for West Midlands Mayor: fighting for our fair share

March 16, 2017 10:53 AM

BeverleyOn Thursday 4 May 2017 a new Mayor will be elected for the whole of the West Midlands. The Liberal Democrats have chosen Beverley Nielsen to be their candidate.

Beverley Nielsen has lived and worked in the West Midlands for twenty years and is passionate about championing the qualities that make the region a great place to live, work and learn.

Beverley is the ideal person for the job. She is an accomplished lobbyist, campaigning for the CBI where she was Regional Director, and as Chief Executive for the Heart of England Tourist Board. Beverley brings business acumen as CEO of Fired Earth and Director at Aga Rangemaster. But crucial for the region's future success is her experience as Director at Birmingham City University where she held responsibility for linking education, busniess and wealth creation. Beverley has political experience too as she was formerly an elected councillor on Worcestershire County Council.

Speaking to a meeting of Sutton Coldfield and Erdington Liberal Democrats recently, Beverley said: It's high time the West Midlands had its fair share and strong regional leadership. Recent cuts to social services through austerity have hit our region hard. We need a cash not cuts programme. As Mayor I will deliver a strong voice and the investment we need for growth to benefit all our residents."
