Garden Waste: Labour's 14% price hike

March 15, 2017 9:03 PM

Local Lib Dem campaigner Ann Holtom has slammed Birmingham's Labour Council for putting up the charge for garden waste collections from £35 to £40 per year, an increase of 14%.

Ann said: "This increase is totally unacceptable, especially when the current inflation rate is just 1%. There is no reason for this price hike as the government provided the Council with millions to establish the garden waste scheme, including the cost of new velhicles, depot refurbishment and other improvements and for the thousands of green waste collection bins. This is just another example of Labour costing you more!"
