Come to the All-Party public meeting for a Sutton Town Council - 27 June

June 19, 2015 4:14 PM

Sutton Coldfield town signThe Liberal Democrats have consistently supported the idea for a Town Council for Sutton Coldfield. We supported the Referendum Group in gathering the 10,000 signatures for the petition to Birmingham Council which kicked off this process and very soon now residents will be getting their ballot papers in the post. They have to be returned by Thursday 16 July and we hope everyone will vote "Yes".

To give residents more information and to promote the "Yes" campaign there will be a public meeting at the Trinity Centre in Mill Street, Sutton Coldfield on Saturday 27 June from 3-5pm. This is an All-Party meeting with representatives from the Lib Dems, Labour, Ukip and the Greens definitely attending at the time of writing. The Conservatives have been invited and we are hopeful they will be there too. The meeting will be chaired by Lib Dem Councillor Mike Ward who was for many years a Sutton resident and who has been a member of the group set up by Birmingham Council to consider how to respond to the residents' petition.

The Referendum Group will be there to answer questions.

If you are at all free that afternoon please do try and come along to support the local party at this meeting and hear more about how a Sutton Town Council would operate.
