Norman Baker MP (now Transport Minister) with Cllr Ann Holtom after his visit to Castle Vale to see the site of the proposed new station

Cllr Ann Holtom has advised local people that Liberal Democrat MP, Norman Baker, has been appointed by the new coalition government as Under Sectary of State for Transport. This is excellent news for Vale residents as he is a strong supporter of the proposed new station on the Vale.

Before he became a Government Minister, Norman Baker visited the proposed site of the new station with Councillor Holtom and made a commitment to support her campaign for a replacement for the old Castle Bromwich line to connect with central Birmingham and for another new station at the Fort.

Cllr Holtom has now written to the minister, reminding him of his visit to the Vale and his commitment for a new station and is hopeful that Mr Baker will now pursue the call for a new station on the Vale with his ministerial colleagues. Cllr Holtom has told residents that when a reply to her letter is received, she will keep them informed of developments.
