The Liberal Democrats can reveal that the number of sex offenders living in the area D2 OCU, which includes Castle Vale, Sutton Coldfield and Kingstanding, has increased by 19% in the last 12 months according to MAPPA (Multi Agency Public Protection Arrangements).

The Police & Probation Services report indicated that the number of registered sex offenders has increased by 16 from 84 last year to100 in the current year.

Cllr Ann Holtom, whose Tyburn Ward is covered by these statistics has commented: "Whilst this increase is worrying the report indicates that management arrangements are in place to minimise as far as possible the risk posed from this group of offenders. However, I will be keeping this situation under review and will seek a meeting with the police's Public Protection Unit if I have any concerns or have this issue highlighted to me by local residents."
