Use of new rail connections would reduce accidents on the roads and cut congestion

Cllr Ann Holtom, Liberal Democrat representative for Tyburn Ward, has renewed her plea for new stations at the Fort & Castle Vale following accidents on Fort Dunlop Parkway which involved four cars and caused considerable tailbacks, during the rush hour, on this busy stretch of road.

In a statement issued to the local press Cllr Holtom said that "A new station at the Fort would provide a fast and efficient route for shoppers and workers to the busy Fort Shopping Centre. A rail link would also provide an easy travel option for workers at the new and fully occupied Fort Dunlop building."

"A rail link to a new station at Castle Vale would reduce journey times into Birmingham provide travellers with a hassle free journey into town".

"Every accident on Fort Parkway causes severe congestion which could be avoided if workers and shoppers were provided with alternative travel options"

"I hope that the Government will provide the necessary money for the new stations to ease tailbacks and congestion on this busy road".
