Local Lib Dems - looking after our local transport needs

Eurostar trains like these could be running from Birmingham to Brussels and Paris if Lib Dem calls were heeded
A local MEP has called for direct high speed rail and Eurostar services to Birmingham. This would boost holiday and business travel and be good for the environment.
West Midlands Liberal Democrat MEP, Liz Lynne, said: "There were plans for a Eurostar service from Birmingham to Brussels. The trains were built, the service even appeared in the timetables but it never ran. With Birmingham now within three hours for a direct service to Brussels and Paris, I really hope Eurostar looks again at a service from the Midlands."
"Even without a dedicated high speed route, a through Eurostar service from this region could compete directly with aircraft and divert traffic from air to rail, with huge savings in carbon emissions."
