More bad news on Post Office closures but Tyburn is spared - for now.

The Post Office has given notice that the following post offices in Sutton Coldfield and Erdington are to close.

Bakers Lane, 40 Bakers Lane, Sutton Coldfield B73 6XD, Sutton Coldfield.

Maney, 20 Beeches Walk, Sutton Coldfield B73 6HN, Sutton Coldfield.

Perry Common, 121 Witton Lodge Road, Erdington, Birmingham B23 5JD, Birmingham, Erdington.

Short Heath, 75 Gravelly Lane, Birmingham B23 6LR, Birmingham, Erdington.

Liberal Democrats in the West Midlands have been campaigning hard against possible PO closures. Back in March a Commons Early Day Motion condemning the closures was signed by Birmingham Lib Dem MP, John Hemming and Solihull Lib Dem MP, Lorely Burt. Lib Dem MEP, Liz Lynne, has also been supporting Liberal Democrat councillors across the region in their local fights to save these essential local amenities.

While Labour has been responsible for forcing the recent round of closures, it should not be forgotten that the last Conservative government presided over 3,000 PO closures around the country.

Commenting on the four local closures, Ann Holtom, Lib Dem councillor for Tyburn Ward, said she was dismayed to see these vital facilities for local people taken away and shared the anger of people in the community. She was relieved however that no PO in Tyburn Ward has been closed and would continue to campaign with Liberal Democrats regionally and nationally to try to halt further closures.
