Cincinnati site, Kingsbury Road - Ann reports back and wants to hear from you

March 19, 2008 2:07 PM

AnnTyburn Ward Liberal Democrat councillor, Ann Holtom, has been following the proposed redevelopment of the Cincinnati site on Kingsbury Road on local residents' behalf, and has recently attended two meetings with the developers of the site, Urban Splash.

Ann reports it is proposed that the main building on Kingsbury Road will be converted into a hotel and conference venue. Car parking for the hotels guests will be on the existing car park on Kingsbury Road with access to the building via a new footbridge over the canal. It is also proposed that in the region of 150 homes and a public access garden area will be built at the rear of the Cincinnati site.

Outline planning permission is expected to be submitted within the next few weeks. The hotel will be developed first with the residential development following on within five years. The outline planning application will provide details on the proposed layout of the site, giving approximate locations of buildings, routes and open spaces, the scale of the proposed development including upper and lower height of each proposed building and the position of access points into the site.

The outline plans are not detailed. Urban Splash will have to submit a full planning application and have it approved before work on the site can start.

Ann is aware that many residents of Hanson's Bridge Road and Woodlands Farm Road have been concerned regarding access to the Cincinnati site and the heavy goods traffic, which use local roads. Ann hopes that the new development will improve this situation rather than exacerbate it.

Once the outline planning application has been submitted you can view the details at http://www.birmingham.gov.uk/planningonline.bcc or you can view them at the Neighbourhood Office. If you wish to make any comments on the development they can be made on line or by writing to the Planning Department at PO Box 28, Alpha Tower, Birmingham B1 1TU.

As always, if residents have any concerns regarding the proposed development please let Ann know so she can take local residents' views into account when making comments on the proposed development to the Planning Department.
