Cllr Ann Holtom - a strong voice for Tyurn Ward

Tyburn Ward Councillor, Ann Holtom, has congratulated Birmingham Council Adults and Communities team lead by Lib Dem Cabinet member Sue Anderson for receiving a second services star for improving its services for older people. The Lib Dem led team was graded as good with capacity for improvement described as promising.

This builds upon the one star award that was received 12 months ago and demonstrates on ongoing commitment to the improvement of services for older people.

Commenting on the awarded Cllr Sue Anderson said "this is a magnificent achievement and is the best ever result to be achieved by the City Council." The Lib Dems have taken this underperforming service that was failing four years ago under Labour control and turned it round into a service that is respected by independent inspectors.

During the next three years all of the City's crumbling care homes will be closed down and replaced with new Special Care Centres that will offer a full range of services and importantly a higher level of care for the residents in their new homes.
