Citizens Advice Bureau - The fight goes on!

March 6, 2008 2:13 PM

CAB logoDespite the announcement of the closure of Castle Vale Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) several months ago, Cllr Ann Holtom is still campaigning hard for it to return.

Cllr Holtom said "This service provided by the bureau, especially in relation to benefits and debt advice, is essential to local residents and should be brought back. Castle Vale has higher than average levels of deprivation and unemployment. CAB provides an invaluable service that will be missed by local residents who will now have to travel to Kingstanding to access CAB walk-in services".

"I am appalled that Birmingham CAB have decided to close this facility. I know that without question the local community is against the closure of this essential service."

Cllr Holtom has written to the CAB's Chief Executive, Yvonne Davies, asking her to reverse her decision and keep the Castle Vale bureau open. She is also organising a "save the bureau petition" to demonstrate the strength of feeling on the Vale regarding the closure proposals.
