Councillor attacks 'cynical' Labour move on post office closures

A confidential letter to senior Post Office Management, stating that the Post Office closure programme will be suspended in the run up to May's elections, has been leaked to the Liberal Democrats.
The letter clearly states this is being done on the instructions of the Labour Government who fear a voter backlash in areas where local Post Offices are being closed down. Tyburn Lib Dem Cllr Ann Holtom, who is already campaigning hard to stop local closures. Said " This is the most appallingly cynical election tactic I have ever seen. Labour know which Post Offices they are going to close, but they won't tell us until after May 1st because they know it will cost them votes".
Labour are in the process of closing 2,500 Post Offices across Britain. It is anticipated that at least 10 will be closing across Birmingham.
