Celebrating Success: "We will work hard to continue our improvements," said Councillor Sue Anderson.

Birmingham City Council has received its best-ever rating for adult care services, gaining two stars in its annual inspection by the Commission for Social Care Inspection.

Lib Dem Councillor Sue Anderson, Cabinet Member for Adults and Communities, said: "This is the first time Birmingham City Council's adult services have been rated this highly. There has been deserved praise for the involvement of service users and carers in the design and delivery of services and the council's commitment to promoting healthier lifestyles."

Councillor Anderson added: "This report highlights the hard work and dedication of all our staff over the last few years. We will work hard to continue our improvements so we can move up from good to excellent."

The second star was awarded only 2 years after the first ever star-rating was awarded.

The report from the Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI) judged the Council's overall ability to deliver outcomes as 'good' and capacity for improvement 'promising'. It also praised the council's on-going work to promote choice and control for people, through the increasing range of options that promote community-based services.
